Né en Italie, ayant grandi et reçu sa formation au Canada, Sergio Marchionne est aujourd’hui le président et directeur général du Groupe Chrysler LLC et l'administrateur délégué et directeur général de Fiat S.p.A..

M. Marchionne détient la double nationalité canadienne-italienne. Il a complété ses études au Canada où il a également entamé sa carrière dans le domaine légal et comptable. Il a ensuite occupé plusieurs postes de direction qui l’ont éventuellement mené à retourner en Europe.

À partir de 2004, il prend la barre chez Fiat où il effectue un des retournements de situation les plus impressionnants de l’industrie automobile récente, ramenant le constructeur italien à la rentabilité en moins de deux ans. Lorsque Chrysler est soulagé du Chapitre 11 de la Loi américaine, en juin 2009, Sergio Marchionne est nommé Directeur général de la société nouvellement formée Chrysler Group LLC, avant d’y être élu Président en septembre 2011. À ce titre, il a emmené à la compagnie l’expérience professionnelle et la vision d’affaire nécessaires pour affronter le marché automobile nord-américain. Son leadership a permis de redresser la situation financière de la compagnie, qui a enregistré un chiffre d’affaire positif lors du premier trimestre de cette année, et a été un élément clé dans le retour de Fiat en Amérique du Nord après une absence de presque 25 ans.

Avec une carrière professionnelle qui a laissé sa marque des deux côtés de l’Atlantique, Sergio Marchionne affronte aujourd’hui un de ses plus imposants défis professionnels: redéfinir le modèle d’affaire d’une industrie qui a été lourdement secouée par la crise économique mondiale et assurer l’intégration réussie entre une société américaine et une autre italienne. Fiat et Chrysler forment à présent un important groupe international qui opère dans plus de 120 pays et compte plus de 190,800 employés.

Born in Italy, raised and educated in Canada, Sergio Marchionne is the current Chairman & CEO of Chrysler Group LLC and CEO of Fiat S.p.A, as well as Chairman of Fiat Industrial S.p.A. and CNH Global N.V.

Mr. Marchionne has dual Canadian–Italian citizenship. He completed his studies in Canada, where he also began his career in the legal and accounting profession and then went on to hold several management positions that eventually led him back to Europe.

In 2004, he took the helm at Fiat, where he delivered one of the auto industry’s most impressive turnarounds in recent history, returning the Italian group to profitability in a period of less than two years.
When Chrysler emerged from Chapter 11 in June 2009, Sergio Marchionne was appointed CEO of the newly formed company, Chrysler Group LLC. Then in September 2011, he was elected Chairman. To this new role, he has brought the vast professional experience and visionary business instincts necessary to face the challenges of the North American auto market. Under his leadership, the company has returned to profitability, recording a positive result for the first quarter of this year, and been instrumental in the return of the Fiat brand to North America after an absence of almost a quarter of a century.

With a career that has spanned both sides of the Atlantic, Sergio Marchionne is now facing one of his greatest professional challenges: to rewrite the business model for a sector that has been severely shaken by the global crisis and to achieve the successful integration between an American and Italian company. Fiat and Chrysler have come together to create a major international group that operates in more than 120 countries and employs 190,800 people.
